Hello! Since our founding in 1917, the sister’s of Sigma Delta Tau have made tremendous efforts to not only empower women but help those around us. Through the hosting of annual philanthropic events, we as an organization are able to raise awareness and money for our national philanthropies; Prevent Child Abuse America, Jewish Women International and The Sigma Delta Tau Foundation. With such activism, we are able to provide children and women with fundamental rights to live in safe homes, achieve a well-rounded education and form healthy relationships. Taking on the responsibility of Philanthropy Chair has brought me new experiences and challenges that I will never forget. I truly value the work of our national organizations and am proud to make a positive impact on individuals all over the nation. As cliche as it might be, I will forever be indebted to Sigma Delta Tau for the amazing relationships I have formed, the responsibilities I have gained and some of the best memories of my undergraduate career. If you have any questions about our philanthropic mission, please feel free to reach out to me, Addy Nowicki, Jojo Sosa, or Hana Young!

During Homecoming weekend, SDT hosts many alumni, current sisters and their families for our annual Fall Gala. This event is a fun way to enjoy a light lunch with others, and bid on various gift baskets generously donated SDT sister’s and their families. The proceeds of this gala go toward all three of our national organizations and is a fun way to take a break from Family Weekend events!
As a new member class, our first project is to organize a pasta dinner for a charity of their choosing. As a group, we decided we would be able to raise more funds if we worked together with another organization, which lead to involve the Alpha Pi chapter of Chi Psi. Together we chose the nonprofit organization known as The MoonCatcher Project. This project seeks to optimize girls’ lives worldwide by removing barriers related to menstruation by making reusable feminine products. We worked together to fundraise money by selling tickets to our catered pasta dinner by tabling at the student center and were able to raise almost 200 dollars for The MoonCatcher Project!
During winter term, the sisters of Sigma Delta Tau partners with the brother’s of Sigma Chi to host our Philanthropy Brunch. During this event, members of the campus community have the ability to come and enjoy a wide variety of breakfast foods such as acai bowls, waffles, eggs, and Starbucks coffee! All proceeds go toward our national organizations including Jewish Women International, The SDT Foundation and Simga Chi’s Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
During spring term, Sigma Delta Tau host’s the annual PCAA week in support of our national organization, Prevent Child Abuse America. Throughout the week, we host many events including, Dunk A SigDelt, Puppies and pizza, and our annual barbecue at the Sigma Delta Tau house. Unlike previous years, the 2020 PCAA week will be completely online, utilizing the power of social media to do our part in providing great childhoods all across the nation. To raise awareness, we will be hosting the #4miles4thekids workout challenge, The Trails of Gabriel Fernandez Netflix party, and Pie a SigDelt!
